Coaching
My style of coaching is a blend of different approaches, mainly sitting within the field of positive psychology coaching. I apply its methods to help clients make the best use of their many talents and inner resources. It takes a whole person perspective, focusing on understanding self, situation, behaviours and actions and seeing coaching as a catalyst for enlightened leadership. Some of my clients have very definite goals for coaching, and we work together to set out a structure and style of coaching that will help them achieve this. For other clients, goals are formed during the coaching process and become a north star guiding a more exploratory style of coaching.
Many of my clients find narrative coaching to be effective, aiding them in exploring issues in depth, and being a good match for tackling the type of complex issues that leaders at executive and senior levels grapple with. At its heart is transformation through awareness, helping clients become aware of the stories they are currently living and creating space for reflection, making sense of experiences, experimenting with and pivoting to new ways of being and creating new stories. My passion for this approach stems from the transformational shifts I’ve seen clients achieve, and I’m consistently struck by how powerfully it supports well-being. It is not a rigid method, but a dynamic approach that draws on story, transition, and adult development, and whilst not traditionally associated with a goal approach, I have found this combination to be powerful and flexible. Spiraling upwards to explore a zoomed-out perspective and circling downwards to explore inner variables is highly effective in achieving deep thinking.

Some people mistakenly believe that they have to have a 'problem' to take to coaching, when in reality leaders gain from coaching in many different ways. The 8 themes can be helpful in considering why coaching might be right for you.

A coaching package can be designed to specifically meet the needs of you and your team. Here are three popular options:
A: IMPROVING TEAM EFFECTIVENESS for senior leadership teams:
Coaching sessions, often delivered in half-day blocks, can be an excellent way to explore current ways of operating, identify goals for improving effectiveness and generate plans for new ways of working together. These sessions increase colleagues understanding of each other and can facilitate supportive exploration of tricky team issues. You can choose an open ended, ‘emergent approach’ in which key issues surface through the coaching sessions, or a ‘goal orientated approach’ in which your team have one of more specific objectives they wish to explore.
B: UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER - PLAYING TO OUR COLLECTIVE STRENGTHS as an SLT:
Each colleague undertakes the trusted Clifton Strengths Finder assessment followed by individual and team coaching to help colleagues achieve a deep understanding of their own strengths and operating preferences, and those of other team members. Colleagues learn how to capitalise on the team’s strengths and how to operate in ways that will be more effective and harmonious. This is a fabulous coaching programme that helps senior leaders understand each other, improves communication, and leads to new ways of working that ensure the team operates at peak performance.
C: MIDDLE LEADERSHIP GROUP COACHING:
This is a cost effective way of providing coaching that not only supports the individual but strengthens peer relationships. Small group coaching for 4-6 leaders working together on a shared theme, e.g. communication, teamwork, managing change, accountability, emotional intelligence. This can be for leaders new to role, emerging leaders as part of the organisation’s talent management programme, or leaders who all have the same job role or all work in a particular division of the organisation. Ideally 90 minute sessions or half-day events every 6-8 weeks across a 12 month period.
Fantastic new offer

This is a brilliant, personalised talent development programme.
Not all organisations have the capacity for an in-house solution. Instead, they provide support for individuals through an external package.

It is an investment that reaps high returns, particularly in the long term.
